Mahindra Satyam to start IT unit in Mihan

Mahindra Satyam, formerly Satyam Computer Services headed by B Ramalinga Raju, has decided to start its IT development centre in Mihan. Shivanand Raja, senior vice president of the company, told the media that as a part of its expansion programme, the company would set up a 1,000 seat capacity centre with an initial investment of around Rs 80 crore according to reports. The phase-I of the campus would be operational within 15 to 18 months.

Tax rules to be relaxed for IT sector, move to attract more business from MNCs

Certainty in the tax regime and more clarity on the interpretation of tax law will encourage multinational companies to ship more work to their captive units here, said Som Mittal, President of National Association of Software and Service Companies.The government is on course to make tax rules easier for the $70-billion information technology industry to make India a much more attractive destination for software development. A high-level panel appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and chaired by former CBDT chairman N Rangachary has recommended favourable tax treatment and a stable tax regime for software sector, said a senior government official privy to the report, which comes at a time when the outlook for the export-focussed industry has worsened.

VASE, Persistent to host Digvijay Diwas

IT company offers scholarships for students

A city-based IT company Watchwitz Services, which was launched last year has decided to offer scholarships worth Rs50,000 to the students in association with Science and Technology Park (STP), Software Exporter's Association (SEAP), and Indian STEPS and Business Incubator's Association (ISBA) promoted by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
